Mankind needs God
pastor corner

Sin is a problem in the world and has been since the Garden of Eden. As one reads through God’s word it is seen that God did not hid this problem but showed that sin exists and how it can be overcome if the individual truly wants to overcome. As long as sin remains, God’s word is needed for it contains the warnings and the directions on how to deal with sin.

Jesus warned that the world (sin) is not what should be mans main objective in life.

“For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul” (Matt. 16:26). Jesus also told how important man is to God “Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.

But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows” (Matt 10:29—31). Knowing that man is important to God one should see the need to know and study God’s word.

In John 3 Jesus showed His concern for every individual.

“There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?

Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. He showed mercy and compassion when He met the woman at the well (John 4). “Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans” (John 4:9). To the Jewish mind a person from Samaria was a little less than a dog, and a woman even less than that. Yet the Son of God took time to speak to her and to teach her. She had a need to hear God’s word and man still needs God’s word.

Most anyone who knows anything about God’s word knows the passage, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). This is a beloved verse that shows just how important man is to God and how man needs to pay attention to that word. Jesus when He came to earth came with a purpose, “For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10).

God’s word is needed. The bible shows that God loved man enough to provide a way of salvation for all who will obey God. Each person needs to see their need for God’s word.
