Letter to the editor: Happy Birthday, Mrs. Roberta
Miss Roberta 90th birthday party

Editor:

I wanted to share with you a feel-good story.

Robin Lance Realty, its owners, its active Realtors and its staff would like to acknowledge our Broker/ owner, Mrs. Roberta E Bennett on her 90th birthday, which took place Aug. 29, 2022.

Roberta, now 90 years young, is the qualifying Broker for Robin Lance Realty. Mrs. Roberta has been in the real estate industry for over 60 years (since 1957) and continues to be active in real estate. She is the co-owner, along with her daughter, Robin Lance and husband, Bob Bennett of Jorishie Properties Inc, DBA, Robin Lance Realty in Richmond Hill, GA. Mrs. Roberta has been a Richmond Hill resident for the past 43 years and has been a past grand marshal in the annual Richmond Hill Christmas Parade.

Mrs. Roberta has been an icon in the real estate business for many years! She initially became licensed in 1958 and was able to put her husband Bob through pharmacy school, while raising five children by selling real estate. Roberta proclaims real estate to be the best business opportunity in the world! Her claim to fame in the industry is having two streets named after her because she sold so many new homes in a particular subdivision: Roberta Circle and Bennett Street. Both are located in Austell, Ga. A third street in the same community was also named after her, Jorishie Drive (which is her maiden name). After years of no one being able to pronounce or spell it, that street name has since been changed.

She earned her GRI designation in 1976 and the CRB designation in 1979.

Roberta took the Matrix training, Selling HUD Homes in Georgia, and the P260 Portal training during the last 12 months in an effort to keep informed of a segment of her company listings. Real Estate financing has always been Roberta’s strong point and passion. Throughout the years, she taught finance classes to the Savannah Board membership without a fee.

Roberta attended most company, GAR and National Conventions until the early 2000’s. In 2013, she attended the Georgia Association of Realtors Conference, and along with her husband Bob, had the honor of installing their daughter as the 2013 President of the Georgia Association of Realtors.

Roberta was recognized and honored in November 2016 as having served the industry for 40 years by receiving the emeritus service award by the National, State and Local Association of Realtors.

Over Roberta’s 60 plus years of service she has served on numerous committees for both the Savannah Board of Realtors and the Georgia Association of Realtors Roberta makes it a point to give her fair share to RPAC.

She served on the Historic Work Group Committee and the Past Presidents Committee of the Savannah Area Realtors. Some of her previous and most notable service includes: Region 9 Vice President – Georgia Association of Realtors 1989 -1990 and 1991 - 1992 President – Savannah Board of Realtors – 1988 Realtor of the Year – Savannah Board of Realtors – 1979 President – Women’s Council of Realtors – Savannah Chapter – 1978 Savannah Women’s Council of Realtors Outstanding Member of the Year – 1978 In addition, Roberta donated over $3,000 to the Savannah Board building fund in the late 70’s and early 80’s.

She also donated over $3,000 to the St. Anne’s Catholic Church building fund in the early 1990’s. To date, Roberta continues her participation with the Savannah Realtors Adopt a Family.

Roberta has served her local community of Richmond Hill for close to 40 years in many capacities; one being the originator of the Richmond Hill Annual Christmas Parade and Chili Cook-off.

She has had the honor of being named the Grand Marshall twice.

Please wish Mrs. Roberta Bennett a very Happy 90th Birthday!

Debbie Marsh, Richmond Hill
