It’s not the ‘if ’ or ‘when’
pastor corner

Just the other day I facetimed my aunt who was in the hospital getting ready to be admitted into hospice. She was almost 94 years old and was my last aunt still living. Actually, I had 32 uncles and aunts when I first got married many years ago and now as of March 28, I have none since she just passed away this morning. She was a strong believer in the Lord and her life exemplified someone of character and integrity and her faith continued to the end. I never doubted that there would be this day coming, since we are told in scripture that we will all come to this place of death, and on an everyday basis we see this reality. On the other hand, I didn’t know when her death would happen, since just a few months ago she seemed to be doing well for a 93 year old.

The truth of the matter is that everyone of us will leave this earth through death, unless the return of Jesus happens first. Also we really don’t know when our last day on earth will be.

One thing we can know is that we are prepared to leave this earth. 1 John 5:13 tells that we can “know that we have eternal life”.

How can we know? Jesus Himself told us that He was the way in John 14:6 but not only the way, but the only way. John 3:16 reminds us that “whoever believes in Him (Jesus) should not perish but have everlasting life” The key question today is, do you know where you would go once you have left this life?

The good news is, you can.

Admit you are a sinner and in need of a Savior and choose to follow Jesus and He will never turn you away.
