Jesus told in many places that His word must be obeyed. “He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day” (John 12:48), “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven” (Matt.7:21). 

When Paul was writing to the church at Corinth he told them, “I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment” (1 Cor. 1:10).

Besides these things the Bible tells us the Church is the body of Christ and there is but one body. Notice the following passages; “And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.(Ephesians 1:22,23); There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; (Ephesians 4:4); And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

(Colossians 1:18). Another passage to look at is found in Matthew 16:18, “And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” (Matt. 16:18). Jesus said He would build His Church and He did. He paid for the church with His own blood, “Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood” (Acts 20:28).

Some would try and cut the previous passages out of their Bibles, but God’s word still remains. It will never be destroyed. Our plea is for all men everywhere to go back to the Bible and to follow its teachings as they are from God. In the book of Jeremiah we read the following, “And it came to pass, that when Jehudi had read three or four leaves, he cut it with the penknife, and cast it into the fire that was on the hearth, until all the roll was consumed in the fire that was on the hearth. Yet they were not afraid, nor rent their garments, neither the king, nor any of his servants that heard all these words” (Jer. 36:23). The words the king had heard were words he did not want to hear. His simple solution was to cut the words up burn them and then go after the messenger. If you continue reading you will find that God replaced the destroyed document. The king did not realize that he could not change or destroy the will of God.

We must hold to God’s word, without addition or subtraction if we want to be saved.
