God’s protective hand
pastor corner

The Bible is full of verses which tell of God’s protective hand over those who trust in Him. One example is found in Psalm 34 and verse 7 where we are told, “The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them”.

If you have been serving the Lord very long then you, most likely, are able to tell stories of God’s faithfulness to you. With summer being the travel season for most people there is a greater chance of facing danger on the roadways. So, I was thinking the other day about a time when I could have very easily been severely injured or killed on the highway. It was on Memorial Day weekend and the traffic was crowded. I was in the mountains and was coming around a sharp corner in the right lane when all of a sudden I noticed this lane was blocked by paving equipment. There was an older couple in a car which had stopped suddenly in front of me and to my left was a couple of semis. I had to make a quick decision as to what I was going to do; either put on my brakes and slam into the car in front of me, go left into the semis, or go right into the side of the mountain. I chose the latter, but at the last possible moment I noticed a slight spot opening up between the two semis and shot into it. As I glanced into the rearview mirror I caught a glimpse of the truck behind me bouncing off the side of the mountain and turning upside down. I presumed that a sign telling of the need to merge over had blown down and the use of cones would have made a difference.

As I drove down the road I was praising the Lord for His protection over me and my wife. I could tell of several other stories where it was evident that my God was with me and to Him be all the honor and praise.

Every day of the rest of my life I want to be a man that gives praise where praise is due and I want to be dependent on the Lord and His goodness. I don’t ever want to get to the place where pride controls my life.
