Christ is the gift that keeps on giving
pastor corner

The day after Christmas as I was driving down the road, I noticed several children playing with what I presume were gifts they had received for Christmas.

I started thinking about all the things we had given as presents over the years to our kids and grandkids, most of which they no longer own or use. Some things break, some things are given away and other things are stored up in some closet somewhere.

The point I am trying to make is that most gifts given to us are not meant to be eternal gifts.

There is one gift that will not disappoint us and can be with us for eternity – the best gift ever given: salvation through accepting Jesus Christ into our lives.

John 3:16 reminds us of this when it states, "For God so loved the world, that he gave us his one and only Son..."

This verse goes on to remind us that this gift is not just offered to a few privileged people but as John says, "that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

So the big question is: Have you received this gift yourself? God is not going to force you to accept it, but he is offering it.

To those of you who have received it, thank God every day for the privilege of having knowledge of it and for being able to enjoy the benefits of having Jesus in your life.
