BCSO blotter: Speeding, dog bites, car catches on fire

From the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office Reports:

May 18: Warrant executed

• Warrant executed for man in custody; man was found by Chatham County Police Department, wanted for driving without a license.

May 18: Speeding, no drivers’ license

• Driver going 71 MPH in a 55 MPH zone.

May 18: Driving while license suspended or revoked, seat belt violation

• Driver stopped near the intersection of Porteld Road and Ellabell Road for driving with a suspended license.

May 18: Criminal trespass

• Woman reports that a man approached her and her boyfriend at their residence, asking to look for some wireless headphones that he claimed were stolen from him at a barber shop in West Savannah. The man did not try to force himself into the home, but stayed in the driveway the whole time, pinging for his headphones. He eventually left because he stated he had things to do. 

May 18: Damage to property

• Driver stated that while driving westbound on Interstate 16, a semi-truck traveling in the right lane attempted an improper lane change. To avoid a collision, she moved onto the shoulder of the interstate, where she struck a pothole. The impact caused significant damage to the vehicle's tires, rendering it inoperable. Car was towed. 

May 18: Theft by taking, misdemeanor

• Woman reports that she had moved out of her ex-boyfriend's house approximately 2-3 days ago and returned to get some of her child's belongings. When she arrived at the residence the items were gone. The items were as follows: 1 twin mattress, 1 Paw Patrol bedding set, and a pack and play. She said her ex stated that the house was broken into and the baby stuff and security cameras were taken. The woman stated she saw the cameras on May 18 when she went to get the baby's stuff. She believes her ex took the belongings but has no proof.

May 18: Tag lights required, no drivers’ license

 • Car stopped for not having proper tag lights. Driver did not have a valid drivers' license. 

May 18: Criminal Trespass

• Deputies respond to an individual requesting a restraining order. The complainant stated that while he was not present at his residence, an individual entered his home without permission. He explained that it was his late wife's sister and that he has had no contact with her for over a year. He expressed concern over the unexpected nature of this incident. He further stated that his roommate was home during the encounter.

May 19: No insurance, driving with suspended drivers’ license 

• Driver stopped for not having valid insurance, the registered owner also had a suspended drivers' license.

May 19: Lost/mislaid property

• Woman reports that her husband recently purchased a new vehicle and applied for registration. She advised that the new registration tag was mailed to their residence but has since been misplaced, possibly having been accidentally discarded with the household trash.

May 19: Animal complaint

• Upon arrival, a deputy spoke with the complainant who stated her dog bit her neighbor's juvenile child. She advised that the dog was a 2 year old, male, black lab-rottweiler mix. She stated that she wished for the dog to be removed in fear it would injure her three year old child.

May 20: Failure to maintain lane, no drivers’ license 

• Deputy observed a blue Hyundai Accent failing to maintain its lane as it approached the roundabout at Belfast River Road. The driver did not have a valid drivers' license.

May 20: Fire, vehicle

• Deputy responded to a residence for a reported vehicle fire. Upon arrival, I observed a vehicle parked in the driveway with flames coming from the engine compartment. Deputy made contact with the vehicle's owner, who stated he had arrived home approximately 20 minutes earlier and was unaware of any issues. He reported that a8er going inside his residence, his dogs began barking, prompting him to go outside-at which point he discovered the vehicle on fire. Bryan County Fire Rescue arrived on scene and extinguished the fire.

May 20: Lost/mislaid property

• The complainant advised that on Sunday, May 18, 2025, he noticed the tag for his pickup truck was missing. He stated that he has surveillance cameras covering the front yard and observed that around 5:00 PM the tag was no longer affixed to the vehicle. 

May 20: Unwanted, harassing communications 

• Deputies were dispatched to a residence in reference to threats communicated through Facebook.

May 20: Lost/mislaid property

• Woman reports that she had her garage door replaced, but discovered that a door was missing.

May 20: Criminal trespass

• Deputies were dispatched to a residence in reference to a vehicle being broken into.

May 20: Damage to property

• Man reports that, while driving on I-95, rocks fell on his car while he was traveling behind Express Towing. The rocks fell on his windshield, making cracks.
