The Wilderman Group will continue to operate the Richmond Hill City Center in 2013 after a decision on Tuesday from the Richmond Hill City Council.

The council approved 2-1 to approve a new contract with the Charleston, S.C.-based management company that included new stipulations regarding the operations. Council member Van Hunter cast the nay vote, and Council member Russ Carpenter was absent.

The new stipulations include limiting city’s contribution to the convention and meeting center to $140,000 from the hotel/motel tax fund the center already receives, allowing city employees to use the meeting rooms for free and deciding what types of repairs and maintenance each party would be responsible for.

City manager Chris Lovell said Wednesday he expects the terms of the contract to be finalized by the end of January.
