Three men were reportedly hospitalized Monday after they were involved in an incident while working on water pipes in a manhole off Belfast Commerce Center Drive near Belfast Keller Road in Richmond Hill.

The men were taken to St. Joseph's Hospital, according to authorities.

Officials said the men passed out after losing oxygen and that one of the workers is in critical condition.

The men were pulled from the manhole by Bryan County Fire and Emergency Services.

Deputy Chief Mike Dick said “Basically we had to have 21 percent oxygen here in the atmosphere to breathe and survive and once it gets below 19 percent oxygen, you can go unresponsive. We had really low oxygen levels down in the manhole.”
