State Senator Ben Watson announced his reelection campaign for Georgia Senate District One on Thursday.

Senator Watson, a physician, chairs the Health and Human Services Committee in the Senate. He also serves on the Appropriations Committee, chairing the Health Subcommittee on Appropriations. Watson also serves on the Insurance and Labor Committee, the Judiciary Committee, the Transportation Committee and the Veterans, Military and Homeland Security Committee.

Senator Watson previously served in the Georgia House of Representatives for two terms. He is a primary care physician with SouthCoast Health in Savannah. He served as an advisor to Governor Brian Kemp’s Taskforce on medical issues during the COVID crisis, and sponsored a sweeping update to Georgia’s mental health laws during the 2022 session of the General Assembly.
