Tybee using vegetable oil for fuel
Placeholder Image

Tybee Island will collect waste vegetable oil so it can be turned into biodiesel used to power municipal equipment.

The oil will collected at participating restaurants, then processed as SES Biofuels in Savannah.

Officials estimate the fuel will cost about 10 cents less than regular diesel fuel. SES Biofuels will also help create a public recycling area so Tybee residents can recycle personal cooking oil.
