SAVANNAH — An autopsy has determined a Glynn County commissioner suffered a gunshot wound to the head before drowning in the Frederica River, where his body was found floating beside a docked boat.
Glynn County Coroner Jimmy Durden said Thursday he was still awaiting word from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab in Savannah on whether the death was ruled a homicide or suicide.
Sublett's body was found early Tuesday on St. Simons Island after he failed to return home from a Monday night poker game with friends.
Glynn County Police Chief Matt Doering has said investigators found the commissioner's wallet with some items missing. Police have released few other details.
Sublett was finishing his first and only term on the Glynn County Commission after deciding not to seek re-election.
