A Richmond Hill Police Department officer responding to a call Friday at Ashleigh Place Apartments suffered a minor injury, according to an announcement on the department’s social media page.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating, RHPD said.

Media reports say officers were conducting a welfare check around 2 p.m. when a resident inside the apartment fired through the door, grazing the officer.

 More information will be released later, the department said.
