Hundreds of people gathered Thursday in the Richmond Hill City Center to help commemorate 50 years of success and progress in the city of Richmond Hill.
Attendees listend to some of the history of Richmond Hill from local historian Buddy Sullivan and former mayor Richard Davis.
Honored at the event were all former and present city council members, current Mayor Harold Fowler and the city's five former mayors. Local students were also honored for their participation in art and essay contests.
The celebration continues Saturday in J.F. Gregory Park with a citywide picnic, kids activities, family fishing, local band The Tams, a hometown market sale and much more. The city will also bury the 50th anniversary time capsule.
