Shooting suspects in custody

A Richmond Hill man was shot Wednesday afternoon in downtown Richmond Hill and some suspects have been apprehended in South Carolina after a chase.

According to Richmond Hill Police Chief Billy Reynolds, the victim confronted four men who reportedly were trying to break into his vehicle tht was parked at the Suites at Exchange Station shortly after 2 p.m.  The man was wounded by gunfire, the extent of his injuries are unknown.

The victim was reportedly an employee at the assisted living facilities off Ford Avenue.

Reynolds said the men then fled in a black Dodge Charger and at some point the Savannah Chatham Metro police spotted the vehicle and began a chase that ended in Hardeeville, where the suspects were placed under arrest.

The victim was flown by medical helicopter to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah.

Nuclear plant's safety discussed at meeting

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff will discuss the 2017 safety performance of the Hatch Nuclear Power Plant during an open house from 4-6 p.m. April 24 in Room 171 of the Southeastern Technical College, 3001 East First St., Vidalia. The two-unit Hatch plant is located near Baxley, about 20 miles south of Vidalia, and is operated by Southern Nuclear Operating Co. NRC employees responsible for plant inspections, including the resident inspectors based full-time at the site, will be available to discuss its performance.
