Bryan County Sheriff Clyde Smith has called a press conference today to discuss the death of a toddler who was mauled to death by seven dogs in Ellabell.

Police were reportedly called about 6:30 p.m. to an Elm Road residence, where a toddler girl had been attacked and killed by seven dogs, according to reports. The Associated Press reports that the child's grandmother was asleep when she heard a commotion and saw the girl being attacked when she looked out of her window.

The dogs, which belonged to the child’s family, were pit bulls and pit bull mixes. They have been euthanized.

Authorities have not released the child’s identity.
