A North Carolina man working at the Travel Lodge motel was stunned with a Taser on Wednesday by Richmond Hill Police after an incident at the Hwy. 17 motel. He was later arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and obstructing a law enforcement officer.

Two police officers responded to the motel around 12:10 a.m. in reference to a possible fight. The front desk clerk said customers were complaining of a fight in a room where the motel’s resident maintenance worker was staying, according to a police report.

She noted that the worker had been acting “weird” all night and appeared to be under the influence of something, according to the police report.

Police officers noticed a small grill that had spilled charcoal ashes in the walkway as they approached the room. When they knocked on the door of the room in question, the man yelled at them.

Officers knocked and announced themselves a second time and asked the man to open the door. The man refused and cursed at the officers, according to a police report.
