A Richmond Hill woman charged with various theft and felony charges, namely defrauding a high school booster club and using the funds to pay for personal matters, was released on Monday.

After a hearing on June 26, an order was signed that Susan “Sue” Nelson could leave jail on her own recognizance, meaning without posting bail and with a promise to surrender to the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office.

Nelson is required to be at the Sheriff’s Office on Friday, July 4th, to be held without bond, or else she will be charged with escape.

Nelson was arrested by the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office in January 2025, where court documents revealed that she was accused of stealing more than $81,000 from the ‘Richmond Hill Wild Kicks’ Booster Club for her own personal use.

The Booster Club is associated with the Richmond Hill High School soccer program. Nelson was president of the Booster Club when the fraud was taking place.

Nelson has been alleged to have used the funds on matters such as cell phone bills and OnlyFans subscriptions.

Court documents also show Nelson stands accused of depositing bad checks, secreting property to defraud another, misreporting receipts, and forgery.
