The 2011 Chevrolet Fireball Run’s Race to Recover America’s Missing Children will visit Coastal Chevrolet in Savannah from noon-2:30 p.m. Monday.
The public is invited to stop by and meet teams as they arrive at the dealership on Hwy. 17 at Hwy. 204.
The Fireball Run’s Race to Recover America’s Missing Children is the largest active recovery effort for missing and exploited children in the country. To date, the effort has assisted in recovery of 36 missing children.
Each team is assigned a child from its home region and given thousands of posters to distribute along the route. A decal featuring the child is affixed to each vehicle, creating a rolling milk carton.
Savannah is one of six destination cities included in the tour, which starts on Florida’s Space Coast and concludes Oct. 1 on Mississippi’s Gulf Coast.
Forty teams will compete in the 2,500-mile adventure, including NASCAR driver Geoff Bodine, NASA shuttle astronaut Winston Scott and actor/activist Kevyn Major Howard.
