Thefts

March 29 - A Pembroke resident reported a Remington firearm and bicycle stolen from the residence. According to the report, it's unknown if the thefts were related.

 

Burglary

March 28 - CJ's pub in Ellabell reported someone kicked in the back door and stole the cash register with approximately $300 in it. The owner said the break in happened between the time she left at 3 a.m. and returned at 4 a.m.

 

Dog attack

March 27 - Two bulldogs were reported to have attacked a woman walking on Orchard Road in Ellabell. The deputy noted blood on her jogging pants in the thigh area. While showing the deputy the area where she was attacked, the two dogs made an appearance in the roadway and approached the woman and the deputy. Animal control came to assist, tranquilizing one dog with a dart and capturing the other with a noose. The darted dog was said to have run around the neighborhood for 30 minutes then disappeared into a wooded area and was not found. The deputy was unable to make contact with the dog's owners at that time, but left a calling card from Animal Control.

 

Break-in

March 26 - A deputy was called to an Ellabell home regarding a break in. The resident came home to find the garage door open and a window broken out in the master bedroom at the back of the house. Among items taken were $250 worth of jewelry, a computer monitor, digital hi-def 42 inch TV, digital camera with zoom lens valued at about $1,600, DVD movies, a $250 digital camera and various sockets and wrenches.

Traffic stop

March 24 - A deputy patrolling I-95 noticed a car on the inside lane beside a tractor-trailer crossing the dotted white line several times. After stopping the driver and checking driver's licenses of both driver and passenger, the deputy explained the drug trafficking trouble on the interstate and asked for consent to search the car. Consent was given. The search yielded "a small quantity of what appeared to be cocaine, two grinders with what appeared to be marijuana inside, another small clear bag" that appeared to have more cocaine inside, and a large amount of cash, the report said. Both were arrested. The passenger reportedly claimed sole responsibility for the drugs and money, and was charged with possession of cocaine and marijuana. The driver was charged with failure to maintain lane.

 

Missing dog

March 23 - A lost or stolen 6-year-old chocolate colored Dachshund was reported missing from the Pine Needle Drive area of Ellabell. The pet was said to stay in a fenced area next to the house and to be very timid toward people. The owner said Animal Control was called to see if the dog was picked up, but it was not, and the neighborhood has been searched as well. The deputy suggested making lost dog flyers and posting them.

 

Assault

March 22 - An assault was reported in the Murchason Road area of Ellabell. A deputy met with a female who was having a hard time breathing and complaining of back pain. EMS was called. The woman said another woman knocked her to the ground and started hitting her in the face with her fists after a dispute over disciplining her child turned physical. She also said other children were kicking her while she was on the ground. She was taken to the hospital by EMS.
