Bryan County Elementary School is back in session after being evacuated for about 35 minutes due to a possible explosive found nearby.

Pembroke City Administrator Frank Etheridge said a gas company doing work at a house behind the school found a dummy anti-tank ordnance believed to be stolen from Fort Stewart. The round was a dummy, which means it had no explosives in it, he said.

Bryan County Schools Superintendent John Oliver said the school was given the "all clear" signal from Fort Stewart officials to allow children back in the facility on Ash Branch Road.  He said the school system received a call around 1:10 p.m. regarding "some suspicious military ordnance" at a house near the school.

Etheridge said Ash Branch Road was closed for about 45 minutes and no one was injured.
