One person was killed and another injured in a two-vehicle accident Thursday on Interstate 16 in North Bryan County.
According to Georgia State Patrol Trooper Chris Cuddington, a tractor-trailer traveling westbound in the left lane was slowing down because of a previous accident in near the weigh station at mile marker 144 when a car also traveling in the left lane ran underneath the trailer.
The car’s driver, a female, died at the scene. Her name has not been released. The tractor-trailer driver was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The call reporting the accident came in at 4:20 p.m., Cuddington said, and about a mile stretch of the interstate was blocked off until 5:51 p.m.
