Craig and Sharon Butts, co-founders of Unity in the Community, stand with two proclamations that mark milestones recognizing black history that are now on permanent display in Richmond Hill City Council chambers at City Hall.

The first, in 2018, proclaimed the city would celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. in January 2019 and set the stage for the first Martin Luther King Parade and Celebration in Richmond Hill, as well as the 2020 celebration led by the Bryan County NAACP. The second proclamation, in 2019, officially recognized February as Black History Month to be celebrated in Richmond Hill.
