Pooler plant to have local impact

The announcement made in September about a Mitsubishi plant coming to Pooler has hit home for Bryan County. The company is opening a small facility in Richmond Hill.

The Richmond Hill facility will have a limited staff, according to human resources director Larry Brown while addressing the Richmond Hill Rotary Club last week.

Specialized welding only is to take place at the small Richmond Hill site, located in a warehouse behind the Sommers Shell gas station on Hwy. 17.

While the Richmond Hill staff will be small, many Bryan County residents have expressed interest in applying for the reported 500 job openings at the Pooler megasite.

According to Brown, the doors to the Pooler site are about a year away from opening, but total construction won’t be complete for seven years.
