Pembroke city officials proudly displayed a newly renovated city hall building Monday, decorated with a holiday flourish for its Open House and Business after Hours event.

Pembroke City Hall was built in 1977. The long awaited renovations began in January of this year and cost the city roughly $120,000 in Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) funds.

"We’ve been very fortunate with what we have received through SPLOST," said Pembroke Mayor Judy Cook. "I think the renovation is something the citizens can be proud of and we (the city) have used that money wisely."
