Night out rained out: Weather pushes event back to July 26
back to school bash rescheduled

North Bryan’s biggest back to school event fell victim to the weather Tuesday night, so organizers are moving it back a week.

The event, organized by Bryan County Family Connection Director Wendy Futch and known as the National Night Out and Back to School bash, will now be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 26 at the Mikell Foxworth Gym on Ash Branch Road.

And, like its recent predecessors, this one is expected to include everything from food and prizes to free backpacks and school supplies.

The event draws support from the city of Pembroke, the Pembroke Police Department, the Pembroke Downtown Development Department, Bryan County Schools, the United Way of the Coastal Empire and the Bryan County Sheriff ’s Office.

It also draws a crowd. Because of the popularity of the event, organizes have extended an invitation to additional agencies or organizations that may want to participate in the event.

The deadline to sign up is Monday, July 25, and the contact point is Raul Secundino, head of the Pembroke DDA. He can be reached by email at rsecundino@pembrokega.net.

Those who may be interested in donating school supplies should contact Futch at wendysims@bryan-county.org.
