Veteran benefit workshops set

SAVANNAH — Veterans are entitled to wide array of financial and other benefits they may not know about.
Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors is partnering with elder-law attorneys Smith Barid LLC to present a series of free veteran benefit workshops to help vets become more familiar with the programs and money that is available to them and their families.
The workshops will take place on Feb. 25 at Savannah Square senior living retirement community and is free. Fox & Weeks and Smith Barid will offer one-hour informational sessions at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. covering a range of topics, including information on programs, such as aid and attendance benefit as well as burial and memorials.
Michael Smith and Richard Barid, attorneys and founding members of Smith Barid, are VA-accredited.
Fox & Weeks Family Services Director Chris Dickey will describe the burial benefits and the process that should be followed before and after the death of a veteran in order to receive them.
