The 3rd Infantry Division got a standing ovation from the Georgia General Assembly this morning.
Representative of the division and Fort Stewart/Hunter, as well as area leaders attended a ceremony at the House. Lawmakers also passed a proclamation during the hour-long ceremony, which was organized by state Rep. Al Williams, D-Midway, and the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce and Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Among the speakers was Maj. Gen. Mike Murray, who spoke via Internet. He is deployed to Afghanistan with soldiers from the division’s headquarters.
