The 10th Transportation Company was awarded the Humanitarian Service Medal at 8:30 a.m. today at Hunter Army Airfield’s 260th Quartermaster Battalion motor pool.
The unit was recognized for its service in support of relief efforts to the people of Haiti, following an earthquake that devastated the Haitian capital of Port Au Prince on Jan. 12 of this year. The 10th Transportation Company was assigned to Joint Task Force Haiti as part of the United States-led relief mission dubbed Operation Unified Response.
The company, which has more than 150 soldiers, worked alongside the United Nations and the International Red Cross to deliver food and supplies.
