Mary Buenrostro is a senior at Bryan County High School and plans to study crime scene investigation in college. She’s an active teen who enjoys school.
Where are you originally from and how long have you lived in Bryan County?
I’m originally from Tampa Fla., but have lived in Bryan County six years.
What do you like about Bryan County High School?
I love BCHS. I had moved but felt I had to come back for the simple fact that I wanted to graduate from BCHS.
What is your favorite subject or subjects?
Journalism and math.
Do you enjoy school - if so, what particularly do you like about it?
Yeah, I love school believe it or not. I am going to miss it after graduation. I love being able to have fun and spend time with my friends but at the same time learning.
Tell me about your extracurricular activities.
I’m going on my fourth year playing tennis with the school. I’ve been in cheerleading a year and on the yearbook staff since 8th grade.
When you are not in school, what do you like to do in your spare time?
I rarely have spare time because of cheerleading and work, but when I do have time I like writing poems, drawing, listening to music, and just having fun.
What do you plan to do or be when you graduate from high school?
I have a lot of things planned for after graduation. I am working as a model already and being trained, so I want to keep doing that. It has always been my dream. I have plans to swear into the National Guard soon, so I am going to proceed with that. Of course I am going to college and want to go to either the University of Central Florida or UGA and study crime scene investigation.
What else do you like to do?
I love taking lots and lots of pictures, hanging out with friends, spending time with my family, and dancing.
What do you like about living in North Bryan County?
It’s a calm place and everyone knows everyone.
If you could change one thing about North Bryan County, what would it be and why?
Maybe add more places so teens can "chill," like a little club or a fun park or simply a little movie theatre. We need more places.
What is your favorite book and what particularly do you like about it?
"The Missing" by Chris Mooney; It’s a thriller novel and it has a lot of CSI things going on. I want to study forensic science so this novel is my favorite.
What is your favorite movie and what particularly do you like about it?
I love the World Trade Center. It brings tears to my eyes. It’s a movie that hits my heart. I love it because it is based on the 9/11 attacks and lets us somewhat see what our heroes suffered.
Where is your favorite place to visit?
I love going to the Florida Beaches over the summer and to visit my Grandma over Christmas. If we have a chance we go to Mexico, and honestly that’s my favorite place to go. There are a lot of friendly people, some of my family, cheap things and not to mention a lot of cute guys.
