Tankersley reviews session with NB Chamber

The North Bryan Chamber of Commerce welcomed special guest state Rep. Jan Tankersley, R-Brooklet, on Wednesday at the group’s monthly meeting at the Dixie Harn Community Center in Pembroke.

Tankersley, a freshman legislator, gave members an inside look at the 2011 legislative session that she said included more than just legislation.

Tankersley recalled the first week of session, which began Jan. 10, when a major winter storm hit, the new speaker of the House was elected and Gov. Nathan Deal gave his first State of the State address, which fell on her birthday.

“They didn’t allow us a snow day like you get in school,” she said, laughing. “But I really had a memorable time.”
