Pembroke Police Chief Mark Crowe says he plans to get an attorney following the City Council's announcement Monday that Sgt. Stacy Strickland will serve as the city's top law enforcement officer.
During its meeting Monday at City Hall, the council announced that Crowe had resigned and that Strickland would be stepping in as interim police chief.
However, Crowe says he did not willingly resign and was told he would be demoted.
