Operation Christmas Child provides gifts to needy children

The green and red shoebox-sized packages atop a table at First Baptist Church Richmond Hill each contain a few toys, personal hygiene items and school supplies.
Soon, those packages and thousands more like them from across the country will be at the Savannah port, ready to go to needy kids around the world.
It’s all part of Operation Christmas Child, a 20-year-old evangelical effort by Samaritan’s Purse to let children in more than 100 countries learn “they are loved and not forgotten,” according to a press release from the organization.
It’s also a reminder that less really can be more.
