Construction of a recreational trail at Hendrix Park could be finished by the first week of April, Bryan County Engineer Kirk Croasmun said Monday.
When completed, the 6-foot-wide trail will stretch for about 1.5 miles around the county-owned park in Black Creek.
“Stone has been installed around the perimeter, but the trail still has to be paved before it opens,” Croasmun said.
County Commissioner Joe Kendrick, who represents the 1st District, which includes Hendrix Park, said many elderly people have been asking for a walking trail at the park.
Walkers, runners, bicyclists and people using wheelchairs will be allowed on the trail.
