Novice computer users gathered Monday in the Richmond Hill Public Library and cracked open brand new laptops to learn the basics of computers and searching the Internet.
In the first class of its kind offered at the library, library manager Kate Barker, along with library employee Lesley Laughing, guided several Bryan County residents through the basics of computer operation. Tasks ranged from turning the device on and using the mouse to find programs and search online.
Another beginner class reviewing the same information will be held today at the library from 1:30-3:30 p.m.
During the hands-on class, Barker gave attendees instructions on how to navigate the computer and allowed them to work at their own pace. Kathy Sauls of Pembroke said that was her favorite aspect of the class.
