A former Bryan County High School teacher and coach was arrested today for sexual exploitation of children, according to the Effingham County Sheriff’s Department.

Zachary Anderson Giebner, of Savannah, was reportedly arrested as part of an investigation into child pornography by the Southeast Georgia Child Exploitation Task Force. According to reports, Giebner was arrested at his home on Wilmington Island and computers were seized.

He remains in jail in Effingham County and bond hasn’t been set, according to arrest and booking reports.

Giebner resigned from his job at BCHS in May, 2014 after an allegation was raised that he had inappropriate contact with a female student during an overnight stay in Newnan on a November 2013 trip involving the cross country team. The Bryan County Sheriff’s Department and Bryan County Schools conducted a joint investigation into the allegations and eventually turned the findings over the the Coweta County Sheriff’s Department.
