Fire damages Ellabell home

An Ellabell home was partially gutted by fire Friday. No one was home when the fire broke out, authorities said.

Firefighters from Bryan County Fire Department on a training exercise nearby spotted flames coming from a home at 1310 Black Creek Church Road around 4:15 p.m., according to Bryan County Emergency Services Division Chief Jason Blalock.

Firefighters from BCFD and Pembroke Fire Department responded, along with Bryan County EMS and the Bryan County Sheriff's Department.

About one third of the home was gutted by the fire. Authorities had not determined what caused the blaze Friday afternoon.
