The employment appeal hearing for City Manager Mike Melton has been canceled, according to a press release issued this morning from City Hall.

The hearing was to be held at 6 p.m. today unless a settlement could be reached between Melton and the City Council. Details of a possible settlement were not immediately available.

The City Council voted 3-1 on Jan. 3 to declare Melton's contract as city manager null and void.
