Smiling faces were everywhere as children and adults saw the vivid eggs laid across J.F. Gregory Park Saturday.

The Easter Extravaganza, hosted by New Beginnings Community Church, drew some 2,000 children and that many adults to the 12th annual event.

“We started out with 500 eggs and gradually got up to 35,000,” said Melody Lane, director of children’s and women’s ministries at the church. “It’s great to see the families come out to have fun together, eat together, picnic out here, have their lunch and just enjoy the games. It’s just good clean old-fashioned fun.”
