Richmond Hill voters will decide Tuesday whether to re-elect City Councilman Van Hunter to another term as the Post 1 representative or put challenger Johnny Murphy in office.
The election is from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the John W. Stevens Wetlands Education Center in J.F. Gregory Park.
It follows a two-week-long early voting period that saw around 300 votes cast before it ended Friday.
City Clerk Ursula Lee, who also supervises the city’s elections, said 284 votes were tallied by midday Friday. The city has more than 7,000 registered voters.
Also on the ballot but running unopposed are Mayor Harold Fowler, who is seeking his second term, and Councilman Russ Carpenter.
Fowler, an Air Force veteran, is retired from the U.S. Department of Labor. Carpenter is a government teacher at Richmond Hill High School.
Hunter, an Army veteran, is self-employed in financial services. And Murphy is a developer and publisher who owns Richmond Hill Reflections magazine and the website Richmond Hill Ga. Live.
