A construction worker was reportedly airlifted by Lifestar to Memorial University Health Center in Savannah this morning after he fell approximately 15 feet while working at the construction site of the new McAllister Elementary, according to Bryan County Emergency Services.

The accident took place around 10:30 a.m., according to BCES.

In an email, Bryan County Schools Superintendent Dr. Paul Brooksher confirmed a worker was injured at the site after falling and broke either his foot or ankle. The name of the worker wasn’t released and it was unclear if he suffered other injuries in the fall.

“When we spoke with Mr. Bill Vickery, Pope Construction, he assured us that safety on our school job sites is paramount,” Brooksher said.

Bryan County firefighters and Pembroke firefighters were also battling a fire in Pembroke on Thursday morning involving a trailer and tires, according to BCES.
