The Bryan County High School JROTC will be one of 21 teams from 10 schools competing in Georgia Military College’s Raider Challenge this Saturday.

The competition, which is free and open to the public, begins at 9 a.m. The campus is located at 201 E. Green St. in Milledgeville.

“Raiders,” as they are more commonly known, is a popular athletic competition held within high school JROTC programs around the United States. It is the Army JROTC equivalent of the Army ROTC “Ranger Challenge” competition in college. The events are held outdoors and designed for a small group of physically fit and mentally tough cadets to compete in various activities. The competition focuses on leadership, physical fitness, mental focus and emotional wellness. Raider competitions normally have five events consisting of personal fitness, distance team running, obstacle course, rescue/first aid and rope bridge construction/transport.
