Bryan County animal shelters in need of dog-food donations
N1504P47004H

Bryan County Animal Control put out the call Jan. 7 that donations of dog food are needed at the Pembroke and Richmond Hill locations.

The shelters would like small-bite adult dog food, according to a Facebook post.

County Animal Control Officer Thomas Sanders said the shelters are receiving an influx of puppies, and it’s hard for them to eat larger food.

Sanders said a glut of puppies at the shelters is common shortly after the holidays.

“Everybody gets some for Christmas, and then of course, you know, all the new wears off on them, and then we’ll wind up receiving quite a few here shortly,” he said.

Also, Sanders said, with the temperature changes this time of year through March, the shelters could also use canned food for dogs and cats.

According to BryanCountyGA.com, the Pembroke shelter is at 144 Industrial Blvd. W., and the Richmond Hill shelter is at 250 Dog Lane.
