BoE approves district
bryan county schools

The Bryan County Board of Education approved a district for the new McAllister Elementary on Thursday that adds Dunham Marsh and Oak Pointe subdivisions to the attendance, but won't include students who live down 144 Spur.

The vote at Thursday's BoE meeting was unanimous. The new K-5 school in Henderson Park is scheduled to open in August with roughly 800 students attending. It’s being built to hold 1,000 students.

Also Thursday, the BoE was told that Richmond Hill Middle School science teacher Robert Hogdon has been named SeaWorld’s middle school science teacher of the year, a national honor. Earlier, Hodgdon was named the state’s top science teacher, and he was voted RHMS teacher of the year as well.

The meeting was held at Richmond Hill Primary School.
