Area host families needed for foreign students

Face The World, a nonprofit organization, is seeking families to host high-school students from around the world. The group’s goal is promote peace and cultural understanding through educational exchange. The students are ages 15-17 years of age and will attend school for an academic year or semester at the local high school.

Single parents, retired couples or families with small children, teens or no children can host. The students are prescreened, speak English and will have medical insurance and spending money to cover clothing, school expenses, entertainment, etc.

Host families will provide a home and food for daily meals, as well as quiet place to study and bedroom to rest in. Although host families are not paid, they are eligible to claim a charitable tax deduction of $50 for each month the student is in the home.

Face The World also needs representatives to help place foreign students with families and provide ongoing support.
