The Richmond Hill Lions Club completed vision screenings in October at Richmond Hill Primary, Richmond Hill Elementary and McAllister Elementary, screening a total of 1,201 students.

The screenings are performed using a Welch Allyn Spot Screener, which screens for six different vision issues.

This machine can screen about 25 students every 15 minutes.

Out of all the screenings, 113 were referred for further eye exams.

While vision is one of the Lions Club main interests, this screening also assists the schools in meeting their state requirements for screening students’ vision.
