Weather permitting, eastbound traffic near the $27 million State Route 144/Bryan Neck Road project area will shift the night of Thursday, March 26.
This planned action, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), will shift the eastbound lane between Rabbit Hill road and Charlies Road onto new construction all the way to the roundabout, while the westbound lane will remain in place. Traffic will remain in this pattern until the median portion of this traffic shift can be complete.
Once the westbound shift is complete in the next four to five weeks, traffic will be completely shifted off the old highway alignment onto new lanes from Timber Trail Road to Belfast River Road, GDOT said.

Motorists traveling through a work zone should expect the unexpected. It can make the difference between life and death, GDOT emphasized. Pay attention, slow down and watch for workers.
