More lanes of Highway 196's Fleming Shortcut opened late Thursday.
The Department of Transportation opened the westbound lanes Thursday evening, but has kept one of what are to be two eastbound lanes closed as the widening project is completed and the area cleaned up.
While the changes could make the stretch of road seem completed, the DOT warns that it is still a construction work zone and drivers are encouraged to use caution.
