The Bryan County Fire Department and EMS will play host to a day of fun and games, but also one of safety and awareness – all centered on the upcoming Halloween holiday.

The event will take place from noon to 4 p.m. at the Mill Creek Fire Station located on Hwy 280 in Black Creek. Bryan County Assistant Fire Chief Otis Willis said the event will feature an open house at the station with lots of kids' activities.

Clowns, Halloween-themed games, a costume contest, and free food and drinks will all be found at the station on Saturday.

Emergency personnel will be teaching kids Halloween safety tips to better prepare them for the holiday. Emergency management workers will be hosting a hurricane safety booth as well.

Of course, fire trucks will be parked at the station for the kids to check out. Willis encourages the attendance of residents 18 and older who have thought about becoming volunteer firefighter. He said personnel will be on hand to answer questions and let interested candidates enlist.

"We’d like to do this every year to help keep Halloween a safe holiday here in Bryan County and also to give the kids in the community something like this to look forward to," Willis said.
