Firefighters raise $1,685 for MDA

Firefighters from the Bryan County Fire Departments’ North and South End completed their first boot drive for MDA this past weekend. They began collecting funds in July to support MDA in hopes of giving neuromuscular diseases "the boot."

Creativity and excitement were high as the firefighters created a challenge this past weekend to get more customers involved at Publix. The South End Firefighters initiated the "donate to the most attractive firefighter" contest, and needless to say the South End firefighters walked away with $1,133 for MDA. Collectively the Bryan County Fire Department raised a total of $1,685 during their first boot drive for MDA!

The proceeds collected from the "Boot Drive" will aid local children and adults living with neuromuscular diseases by providing wheelchairs, leg braces, clinic visits, support groups, and a chance for a weeklong summer camp for local children ages 6-17 to attend.
